What you could play this weekend
September always bring an avalanche of game releases, but I'm told that this September is even more of a whiteout than normal. Honestly? You wouldn't know it to look at the PC release calendar, where the month looks exactly as blizzardy as it always does, and pretty much as snow-packed as every other month. I think I maybe just care about different games.
Here are three of this month's releases that you could be playing this weekend. Tell us what you are playing in the comments.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

Moonlighter has a wonderfully straightforward premise: go dungeon delving for treasure at night, then sell that treasure in your shop during the day. It was partly responsible for popularising what's become a genre, and this sequel with fully 3D environments has now hit 1.0 after a little less than a year in Early Access. I hate the subtitle, but don't hold that against it.
[Disclosure from Brendy: I worked on this game's story in its earliest stages - Graham forgot to say. But as far as I can tell they didn't use a damned word! So if there are zero jokes in it, that's why.]
Dungeon Settlers

A mashup of dungeon crawler and colony sim in which you're leading a band of fantasy heroes through combat and then constructing the homes and farms that keep them supplied in a dangerous land. That's a pretty enticing mixture, but I'm even more interested by the combat being real-time with pause rather than turn-based or another action-RPG. It's in Early Access now.
Sludgineers

The latest soldier in the war to make tidying-up games within every other genre. This one's an incremental game in which you clean up sludge and then engineer it into equipment for the faster cleaning up of sludge. Some of the Steam reviews suggest that it's too short, but I like an incremental game that ejects me from the premises when it thinks I've had enough.
What we're playing
Graham: I want to play Sovereign Tower or Dungeon Settlers or Vholume, but I keep starting new DIY projects and so there's a 50/50 chance I spend the weekend smearing paint samples across my hallway, replacing the toilet seats, and rearranging the furniture in my living room.
Jonty: I played four hours of Zero Company this week, of which 45 minutes was character creation and 30 was getting annoyed at the controller-centric interface, so having created a suitably alarming avatar and applied the objectively correct XCOM-style UX change I hope to actually experience the game proper.
Brendan: I have more desires than this puny 48 hours of non-work can accommodate. In my heart I want to play Onimusha past the meagre twenty minutes I have invested. In my hands I want to play more Vholume. In my head? There is nothing in my head.
That's us, but explain what you're playing down below, in the internet's best and only comment section.
