What you should play this weekend
Another weekend? So soon? I am not at all prepared for this collision with two days of supposed non-work, but I hope that you are making merry, putting your feet up, and stuffing your gullet with salty, crunchy videogames.
Here what you should or could be playing. Tell us what you actually are playing in the comments.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
I am not an RPG guy, but oh how I dream of being. Alas, I tried playing the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined demo and fell asleep on the couch within an hour. I'm like yer da putting the snooker or bowls on TV on a Sunday - I see the colour green and I'm out. If you've greater fortitude than I, this seems like a great modernisation of one of the genre's classics, with lots of fast-forward and automation options to make the combat more fun (and an anthology structure to make the 85-hour runtime less intimidating).

The Last Starship
Introversion Software's latest project hit 1.0 after several years in Early Access. It's that spaceship simulator people are always dreaming of, in which you construct a craft, manage its innards, and then go forth to mine or fight or pirate. You can ultimately end up operating an entire fleet of craft as they follow your automated trade routes around the galaxy, although you'll first need to deal with a lot more logistical fiddliness than laying out the plumbing in Prison Architect.

Don't Stop, Girlypop!
A "Y2K arena movement shooter" which takes its aesthetic cues from Bratz dolls, print ads for Sony Discmans (Discsman?), and what Tumblr kids hope 1999 was like. It also takes much of the rest of its inspiration from Quake 3 Arena, where damage output has been tied to movement speed to encourage you to spend as much time airborne or bunnyhopping as possible.
There are many other new games currently fighting for attention. Co-op magic 'em up YAPYAP, the stately looking Front Mission 3 Remake, seven separate games in the Super Bomberman Collection, and Menace, which Brendy has already played for us.
Me? I'm not playing any of the above, and perhaps you're not either. Tell us what you are playing in the comments.
