What you could play this weekend

An even nerdier Football Manager
A skeletal, pointy-headed spider guy with knives grins at the player with malicious intent, viewed from a side-on perspective.

I really should be playing Silent Hill: Townfall, a spooky first-person explore 'em up inspired by the kind of Fife towns some of my family currently live in. Alas, I'm no fan of horror games and I've never Silent Hilled at all. It's hard to imagine starting now.

Thankfully there are plenty of other new games to try this week. Tell us what you're playing in the comments down below.

Sin Reloaded

The most garish casino ever constructed, with green carpet with red roses, and gold trim and ceiling. Hideous.

I have fond memories of Sin, a shooter that released two weeks before Half-Life and which offered a different vision of the future of first-person storytelling. One that was considerably stupider, more tacky, and more Build engine-inspired. I'm not sure I'd ever want to go back, but I'm tempted to at least try that opening bank mission with its working ATM screens in this Nightdive remaster.

Well Dweller

The player, who carries a torch, walking across a watery surface, in which a skeletal giant is dead and sunk, one hand's fingers poking from the water.

I had a lot of fun with Crypt Custodian, Kyle Thompson's hack-and-slash metroidvania set in a cat-themed afterlife of floating islands. Well Dweller is Thompson bringing his many talents to bear on a Hollow Knight-like, which means it's another metroidvania, but with a side-on view of a dark, creepy, watery world. It seems to have plenty of its own ideas, too, including a torch you can embed in walls to create springy platform surfaces.

Non-League Manager

A screen of stats about non-league football team Kettering Town.

I semi-regularly attend matches for my local non-league team and have grown fond of the atmosphere and underdog spirit of a team that just barely clings to existence in the 9th tier of English football. Non-League Manager lets you run just such a team. It obviously looks similar to Football Manager, but this is a world where your players have day jobs and your opponents are as likely to go bankrupt as to get promoted. It's in Early Access and who knows if it's good, but I love that it exists.

What we're playing

Graham: I've made a start on Sokpop's deckbuilding autobattler Grail, in which a rat can win fights through careful consumption of cheese. Eating cheese in real life typically makes me lose fights with my bowels, but I'm excited to learn how the other half live.

Jonty: I am steadily accumulating games I want to finish but haven't, but that's boring for both me and the reader so I've got my eye on BeamNG.Drive, news of the PS5 version of which has reminded me that I haven't tried it on this graphics card. I am excited to crash some cars in a very realistic way.

Brendan: I've been wanting to play Roman Sands Re:Build for the better part of a week but all my time has been pumped like aircraft-grade diesel into Ace Combat 8. Now that I have all the fighter jetsing out of my system, I finally can.

That's us, but what about you? Tell us what you're playing down below in the internet's best and only comment section.
